Stonemark performed full services for this multi-year, multi-phased project including the original assessment and site investigation to create the building master plan. Considered the “grandfather of grandfathered buildings” by the City Building Department, every permit was a major negotiation. The 5-acre roof system, the largest roof in the County, had years of buried layers, all of which were asbestos containing, so that roofing removals had to be performed at night to protect the tenants. The final phase of the project was a complete exterior facade makeover.
My company has worked with Stonemark since 1999 on a number of projects for the Vercal Building. Originally constructed in the 1930's & 40's, the aging building had a multitude of problems including a failing roof, water seepage under the stucco and dry rot in the foundation and loading docks. Stonemark managed the design & construction of a complex new roofing system, reconstruction of the foundation and renovation of the complete exterior. Stonemark gave us the highest level of expertise and professionalism to each detail from planning, budgeting & construction to close-out. They continue to provide on-site inspections to maintain the quality of the work. Today we have a property we are very proud of.
